Weather conditions in Azerbaijan are expected to be predominantly rainy on January 21, with snow and sleet forecasted for several regions. According to the National Hydrometeorological Service, Operative Information Center-OMM reports that precipitation will gradually cease throughout the day across the country.

In Baku and the Absheron Peninsula, intermittent precipitation and snow are likely during the first half of the day. Forecasters indicate that the rain and snow will stop as the day progresses. While the north-west wind may strengthen periodically, it is expected to weaken by the afternoon. Temperatures in the capital will range from 2°C below zero to 1°C at night, reaching 2°4°C during the day. Atmospheric pressure will rise from 767 mm Hg to 771 mm Hg, with relative humidity staying between 75–85 percent.

Regional Weather Outlook

In the regions of Azerbaijan, weather conditions will be characterized by precipitation, including sleet and snow in various areas. Intense precipitation is not ruled out in specific locations. By the second half of the day, the precipitation is expected to taper off, though fog may form in some districts. A moderate west wind will prevail across the provinces.

Temperature figures for the regions show nighttime lows of 2–6°C below zero and daytime highs of 3–6°C. In mountainous areas, temperatures will drop significantly, reaching 10–15°C below zero at night, and as low as 17–22°C below zero in high-altitude zones. Daytime temperatures in the mountains will remain between 3–8°C below zero.

The National Hydrometeorological Service of Azerbaijan regularly monitors atmospheric conditions to provide timely updates for the public and relevant state agencies. Such cold spells and snowfall are typical for the winter season in the Caucasus region, often influenced by the movement of cold air masses from the north and the Caspian Sea's maritime effects.
