Weather conditions in Baku and the Absheron Peninsula are expected to change on February 28, with intermittent precipitation forecast throughout the day.
According to information provided by the National Hydrometeorological Service to Operative Information Center-OMM, there is a high probability that precipitation will intensify in some areas during the first half of the day, transitioning into sleet. A north-west wind is expected to strengthen periodically in the capital, with temperatures ranging between 1-5°C during both day and night. Atmospheric pressure will rise from 762 mm to 766 mm Hg, while relative humidity will fluctuate between 80-90%.
In the regions of Azerbaijan, weather conditions will also be rainy, with snow expected in most areas. Precipitation is likely to be intense in certain locations, accompanied by a periodically strengthening east wind. In the mountains, temperatures will drop to 5-10°C frost at night, reaching 10-15°C frost in high-altitude areas. Daytime temperatures in mountainous regions will hover between 0-5°C frost. Drivers are advised to exercise caution as icy road conditions are expected in several mountainous and foothill districts during the night and morning hours.
The National Hydrometeorological Service of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources regularly monitors atmospheric processes to provide timely alerts for the population and relevant government agencies. Such sharp changes in weather conditions during late February are characteristic of the region's transitional climate, often requiring increased vigilance from the transport and energy sectors to mitigate the impact of frost and strong winds on infrastructure across Azerbaijan.
