Weather conditions in Baku and the Absheron Peninsula are expected to be changeably cloudy and occasionally gloomy on January 31, though primarily rainless conditions will prevail across the capital region.
According to information provided by the National Hydrometeorological Service to the Operative Information Center-OMM, intermittent fog may be observed in various parts of the peninsula during the night and morning hours. A moderate south-west wind is forecasted, with the potential to intensify at certain times of the day. The air temperature in Baku will range from 3–6°C at night to 12–17°C during the day. Atmospheric pressure is expected to drop from 756 mm Hg to 753 mm Hg, while relative humidity will fluctuate between 80–85% at night and 55–60% during the day.
In the regions of Azerbaijan, weather conditions are also expected to remain mostly dry. However, short-term precipitation and snow are anticipated in some mountainous areas during the second half of the day. Moderate western winds may strengthen in specific districts. Regional temperatures are forecasted at 0–5°C at night and 13–18°C during the day, while mountainous areas will see temperatures between -5°C and 0°C at night, rising to 10–15°C during the day.
The National Hydrometeorological Service of Azerbaijan regularly monitors atmospheric conditions to provide accurate forecasts for the Caspian basin and the South Caucasus region. Such fluctuations in temperature and atmospheric pressure are characteristic of the transitional winter-spring period in Azerbaijan, where the unique geography creates diverse microclimates ranging from semi-desert in the lowlands to alpine conditions in the Greater and Lesser Caucasus ranges.
