Ilham Aliyev receives US Jewish organization leaders

President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev received a delegation led by Betsy Berns Korn, Chair of the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations, on February 9.

According to Operative Information Center-OMM, during the meeting, President Ilham Aliyev and the representatives of the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations recalled their previous meetings with satisfaction.

Expressing gratitude to the head of state for the reception, Betsy Berns Korn noted Azerbaijan's strategic importance and its strong relations with both the United States and Israel. She expressed pleasure in visiting the country with a large delegation to discuss further expanding cooperation. Korn also extended congratulations on the progress made in Washington last August regarding the advancement of the peace agenda between Azerbaijan and Armenia, highlighting the leadership of the President of Azerbaijan and the efforts of the US President in this process.

President Ilham Aliyev thanked her for the congratulations and specifically touched upon the role of US President Donald Trump in achieving these milestones. The head of state emphasized that both the Azerbaijani and Armenian sides are becoming accustomed to living in conditions of peace. President Ilham Aliyev stressed that ensuring peace and stability in the region would significantly contribute to regional development, noting the importance of connectivity projects in expanding regional cooperation.

The head of state further noted that Azerbaijan-US relations have developed successfully since US President Donald Trump took office. He highlighted that meeting with the US President several times over the past six months is an unprecedented occurrence in the history of bilateral relations between the two nations.

The meeting also touched upon the historically tolerant environment in Azerbaijan and the state care provided to the Jewish community, as well as to representatives of other ethnicities. Both sides expressed satisfaction with the development of Azerbaijan-US ties and the successful cooperation between the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations and Azerbaijan, emphasizing their role in expanding bilateral relations with both the US and Israel.

The Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations is a leadership body that addresses issues of critical concern to the Jewish community and works to strengthen the bond between the United States and its allies. Azerbaijan has long been recognized for its model of multiculturalism and secularism, maintaining a centuries-old tradition of peaceful coexistence among various religious and ethnic groups, including a vibrant Jewish community that plays an active role in the country's social and political life.
