A delegation led by Colonel Dmitry Zhukovsky, head of the Troop Service Department of the Belarusian Ministry of Defense, has visited Azerbaijan to discuss the protection of military facilities.
This was reported to the Operative Information Center-OMM by the Ministry of Defense. The visit was conducted in accordance with the "Bilateral Military Cooperation Plan for 2026" signed between the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Belarus.
During a working meeting focused on "maintaining order and organizing the protection of military facilities," Major General Azer Ibrahimov, head of the Main Department of Internal Security and Investigation of the Ministry of Defense, welcomed the delegation. Major General Ibrahimov emphasized that relations between Azerbaijan and Belarus are built on friendship, brotherhood, mutual trust, and support.
Colonel D. Zhukovsky expressed gratitude for the hospitality and highlighted the importance of expanding joint activities. The meeting, which was also attended by the Belarusian military attaché to Azerbaijan, included a detailed briefing on the activities of the Main Department, followed by a question-and-answer session.
The delegation subsequently visited the Military Police Department of the Ministry of Defense. Major General Elgun Aliyev, Deputy Head of the Main Department of Internal Security and Investigation and Head of the Military Police Department, underscored the significance of such reciprocal visits for expanding military cooperation and exchanging professional experience. The guests were briefed on the history, structure, operations, logistics, and training programs of the Military Police Department, followed by an exchange of views on matters of mutual interest. The visit concluded with the exchange of gifts and a commemorative photo.
Military cooperation between Azerbaijan and Belarus has historically been strong, encompassing various aspects of defense industry collaboration, joint training exercises, and strategic partnerships. These interactions are part of broader efforts by the Republic of Azerbaijan to strengthen its defense capabilities and maintain regional stability through international military-technical cooperation.
