The National Hydrometeorological Service has issued yellow and orange weather warnings due to strong winds expected in Baku, the Absheron Peninsula, and several regions of Azerbaijan on April 12-13.

According to official information provided to the Operative Information Center-OMM, a northwest wind will prevail across the country. In areas under a yellow warning—including the Nakhchivan AR, Khizi, Siyazan, Guba, Khachmaz, Shabran, Ganja, Shamkir, Gazakh, Tovuz, Agstafa, Gadabay, Aghdam, Kalbajar, Lachin, Fuzuli, Zangilan, Yevlax, Barda, Tartar, Bilasuvar, Neftchala, Lankaran, Astara, Jalilabad, Masalli, Lerik, Yardimli, Hajigabul, and Gobustan—wind speeds are expected to reach 13.9-20.7 m/s.

More severe conditions are anticipated in regions under an orange warning. In Baku and the Absheron Peninsula, as well as Goranboy, Naftalan, Dashkasan, Mingachevir, and Gusar, the northwest wind is forecasted to intensify to 20.8-28.4 m/s. The National Hydrometeorological Service advises the public to exercise caution, as such wind speeds can pose risks to infrastructure and personal safety.

The color-coded warning system in Azerbaijan is designed to alert the population and relevant government agencies to potential weather-related hazards. An orange warning signifies that the weather is dangerous and could lead to significant damage or accidents, while a yellow warning indicates that the weather is potentially dangerous, requiring citizens to stay informed and vigilant during outdoor activities.
