The National Hydrometeorological Service has issued yellow and orange weather warnings regarding the expected windy conditions in Baku, the Absheron Peninsula, and various regions of Azerbaijan on April 8.
The Operative Information Center-OMM was informed by the Service that a yellow warning is in effect for the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, Kalbajar, Lachin, Gadabay, Goygol, Zangilan, Ganja, Tovuz, Jabrayil, Agstafa, Sheki, Oguz, Gabala, Goychay, Ismayilli, Shamakhi, Agsu, Khizi, Hajigabul, Salyan, Shirvan, Bilasuvar, Jalilabad, Neftchala, Khachmaz, Shabran, Siyazan, Gusar, Guba, and Lankaran. A more severe orange warning has been issued for Baku, the Absheron Peninsula, Dashkasan, Goranboy, Mingachevir, and Gobustan. In these locations, the north-westerly wind is forecast to intensify, with speeds reaching between 20.8 and 28.4 meters per second. Residents are advised to exercise caution, as such wind speeds can lead to potential disruptions in infrastructure and transport.
In Azerbaijan, the National Hydrometeorological Service utilizes a color-coded warning system to alert the public and relevant government agencies about potential weather risks. A yellow warning indicates a potential weather threat that is not unusual but requires vigilance, while an orange warning signifies a more dangerous weather phenomenon that could pose a risk to life, property, and the environment. These measures are part of the country's proactive approach to disaster risk management and public safety.
