US President Donald Trump is expected to discuss the ongoing conflict in Ukraine with President Volodymyr Zelensky.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, citing sources within the White House, the Associated Press (AP) reported that US President Donald Trump views negotiations regarding the settlement of the conflict in Ukraine as a priority. He plans to address this issue with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on the sidelines of the upcoming NATO summit in Ankara.
A White House official indicated that US President Donald Trump is keen to take immediate steps toward ending the hostilities. Following the meeting with Zelensky, it is anticipated that the US President may also hold a telephone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
The conflict in Ukraine, which has persisted since 2022, remains a central focus of international diplomacy and global security discussions. The potential for a negotiated settlement has been a subject of intense speculation among world leaders, with various international platforms, including NATO summits, serving as venues for high-level dialogue aimed at de-escalation.
It is noted that Yuri Ushakov, an aide to the Russian President on international affairs, previously stated that Vladimir Putin prefers a political and diplomatic resolution to the Ukrainian crisis. According to Ushakov, during a recent telephone conversation with US President Donald Trump, Putin emphasized the necessity of a diplomatic settlement, provided that Moscow's security interests are taken into account.
