A delegation led by Mazahir Panahov, Chairman of the Central Election Commission (CEC) of Azerbaijan, has arrived in Kazakhstan.
This was reported to the Operative Information Center-OMM by the CEC.
The visit, undertaken at the invitation of Nurlan Abdirov, Chairman of the Central Election Commission of Kazakhstan, aims to observe the snap parliamentary elections scheduled for August 23 as part of an international monitoring mission.
The CEC representatives are scheduled to review the overall preparation process and the activities of election commissions leading up to the voting day. Furthermore, they will observe voting procedures at polling stations in the capital, Astana.
On August 22, the delegation will participate in a meeting of the Consultative Platform of supreme election authorities of the member states of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) in Astana. The meeting will focus on the current state and future development of dialogue and cooperation between election administrations, the exchange of best practices in election management, and the strengthening of institutional ties.
During the visit, the CEC Chairman is expected to hold meetings with his Kazakh counterpart, as well as with heads of election management bodies from OTS member states, representatives of international organizations participating in the election observation, and other officials. These discussions will center on deepening inter-institutional relations and exploring new avenues for cooperation in various election-related fields.
It should be noted that CEC representatives are also monitoring the snap parliamentary elections in the Republic of Kazakhstan as part of international observer missions from the Organization of Turkic States, the Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic States, the OSCE/ODIHR, and the Commonwealth of Independent States.
The Organization of Turkic States, which includes Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkey, and Uzbekistan, has increasingly prioritized electoral cooperation and the exchange of democratic governance experiences as part of its broader integration agenda among Turkic-speaking nations.
