US President Donald Trump has officially nominated Alexander Olden, a representative from the state of Virginia, to serve as the next United States Ambassador to Azerbaijan.

According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, which cited an official statement from the White House, the US President has formally submitted the nomination to the Senate for confirmation.

Currently, the diplomatic mission in Baku is being led by Amy Carlon, who serves as the Chargé d'Affaires. The position of US Ambassador to Azerbaijan was previously held by Mark Libby. The appointment of a new ambassador is a significant step in maintaining bilateral relations between Washington and Baku, reflecting the ongoing diplomatic engagement between the two nations.

The United States and Azerbaijan maintain a strategic partnership, particularly in areas concerning energy security, regional stability, and counter-terrorism efforts. The role of the US Ambassador is pivotal in facilitating high-level dialogue and advancing cooperation on key geopolitical issues in the South Caucasus region.
