A freight train consisting of 5 wagons carrying Russian wheat to Armenia departed from the Bilajari Railway Station of Azerbaijan Railways CJSC today. According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the total weight of the grain shipment is 350 tons.

The cargo is scheduled to travel from the Bilajari station to the Boyuk Kasik Railway Station before crossing into Georgia, from where it will proceed toward Armenia. This logistical route has seen significant activity recently; to date, more than 24,000 tons of grain, 1,600 tons of fertilizer, and 68 tons of buckwheat have been transported from Russia to Armenia via transit through Azerbaijan. The previous shipment of this nature was recorded on April 1, when 349 tons of Russian wheat were transported through the country.

The use of Azerbaijan's transport infrastructure for the transit of goods to Armenia highlights the strategic importance of regional connectivity in the South Caucasus. Azerbaijan has invested significantly in modernizing its railway network to serve as a reliable transit hub between Russia, Georgia, and other regional neighbors. This development is seen as a practical step in the normalization of regional logistics and the unblocking of transport communications, which remains a priority for ensuring long-term economic stability and cooperation in the region.
