In accordance with the instructions of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, a new convoy of humanitarian aid has been dispatched to the Islamic Republic of Iran.
The Operative Information Center-OMM, citing AZERTAC, reports that the aid was organized following a telephone conversation between President Ilham Aliyev and President Masoud Pezeshkian held on March 8, 2026. The initiative aims to support the needs of the neighboring and friendly Iranian people.
The current humanitarian aid package totals 82 tons, consisting of 76 tons of food products, 4 tons of essential medicines, and 2 tons of medical supplies. The cargo is being transported via five heavy-duty trucks. Additionally, in light of the upcoming Novruz holiday, the convoy includes traditional holiday gifts and various Novruz-related products.
To ensure the official delivery of the assistance, a delegation including officials from the Office of the Cabinet of Ministers, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the State Reserves Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan has departed for the Islamic Republic of Iran. This mission underscores Azerbaijan's commitment to regional cooperation and humanitarian solidarity. Azerbaijan has a long-standing history of providing humanitarian assistance to neighboring countries during periods of need, reflecting its role as a stable and supportive partner in the region.
