Monthly presidential pensions have been assigned to four family members of deminers Seymur Rashid oglu Namazov and Ragif Deputat oglu Isayev, who lost their lives during demining operations in Azerbaijan. The Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of Population announced that the payments are being processed in accordance with the latest executive orders.
The Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the monthly pension amount is set at 700 AZN. According to the decree, this total sum is divided into equal parts among the eligible family members of the deceased. This financial support aims to provide social security to the relatives of those who sacrificed their lives in the line of duty while clearing liberated territories of explosive remnants.
The pension was established by a decree signed by President Ilham Aliyev to support the families of deminers who die due to ammunition explosions during demining activities or succumb to injuries sustained during such operations. Eligible family members include widows or widowers, parents, and children under 18 (or up to 23 if enrolled in full-time education). The provision also extends to children with disabilities identified before the age of 18 and certain other close relatives under specific legal conditions.
Azerbaijan remains one of the most landmine-contaminated countries in the world following decades of occupation. Since the end of the 2020 conflict, the Republic of Azerbaijan has prioritized large-scale demining operations in Garabagh and East Zangazur to ensure the safe return of internally displaced persons. The government continues to strengthen social protection measures for the personnel of the Azerbaijan National Agency for Mine Action (ANAMA) and other specialists involved in these high-risk humanitarian efforts.
