Information regarding public transport arrangements for participants of the 13th World Urban Forum (WUF13) has been released. According to the WUF13 Operating Company in a statement to Operative Information Center-OMM, transportation within Baku is efficiently organized through the metro, buses, railways, airport express routes, taxi services, and micromobility options.
The statement noted that the "BakiKart" is used for payments on the metro and buses, while the "ADY card" is required for railway travel. Payments can also be processed via mobile applications, QR tickets, and NFC contactless methods. "The nearest metro station to the WUF13 venue is Koroglu. The metro operates daily from 06:00 to 00:00, while trains on the Absheron circular railway line run from 06:30 to 23:00. The H1 airport express route provides 24-hour transport connectivity between the airport and the city center, passing through the Koroglu Transport Interchange Center," the report added. To facilitate easier travel planning, participants are encouraged to use the "BakiKart", "ADY", and AYNA "MaaS" mobile applications, which provide real-time tracking, route options, and balance top-up features. Additionally, the "Accessible Metro" service is available for persons with disabilities, and the city offers approximately 50 km of dedicated bicycle and scooter lanes.
The World Urban Forum, established by the United Nations, is the premier global conference on sustainable urbanization. Hosting WUF13 in Baku underscores Azerbaijan's growing role as a major international hub for discussing global challenges, following its successful hosting of other high-level international summits. The event brings together government officials, urban planners, and civil society leaders to address the rapid challenges of urbanization and promote sustainable city development across the globe.
