The Milli Majlis (National Assembly) of Azerbaijan has ratified an agreement on cooperation for the exchange of information during the mandatory execution of court acts and decisions by other authorized bodies and officials. The bill was discussed and approved during today's plenary session of the parliament.
According to Operative Information Center-OMM, the agreement, which consists of 25 articles, was originally signed on June 26, 2025. The document establishes a framework for the exchange of data, documents, and certified copies between enforcement agencies to ensure the effective protection of human rights and the legal interests of state bodies and organizations.
Under the terms of the agreement, parties will provide information regarding individuals and legal entities upon request. The enforcement authorities are required to process and use the provided data strictly for the purposes specified in the request, maintaining confidentiality and information security. While the standard response time for requests is set at 30 business days, the requesting party may ask for an expedited process. Any disputes arising from the implementation of the agreement will be resolved through mutual consultations and negotiations.
This ratification is part of Azerbaijan's ongoing efforts to modernize its legal framework and strengthen international judicial cooperation. By streamlining the exchange of information, the agreement aims to reduce delays in the execution of judicial decisions and improve the efficiency of legal assistance mechanisms between participating states. The bill was adopted in a single reading following parliamentary discussions.
