The Mehdiabad-Baksol-Ziya Bunyadov Avenue highway is set to be connected with 8 Noyabr Avenue in the future, according to information provided to the Operative Information Center-OMM by the Azerbaijan Land Transport Agency (AYNA) under the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport.
According to the agency, the project involves the construction of a new highway that will directly link the northwestern part of the Absheron Peninsula with the eastern and southwestern directions of Baku. The route is planned to extend to Heydar Aliyev Avenue and eventually integrate with 8 Noyabr Avenue.
"The large-scale road project will begin in the Mehdiabad and Binagadi areas, connecting with the Binagadi highway. This initiative will result in a more balanced distribution of traffic flow. Specifically, it is expected to alleviate the daily congestion frequently observed along the Binagadi, 20 January, and Ziya Bunyadov corridor. Many vehicles will be able to utilize these alternative routes," AYNA stated.
The development of this infrastructure is part of a broader strategy by the Azerbaijani government to modernize the capital's transport network. By creating a cohesive system of ring roads and alternative routes, authorities aim to improve urban mobility, reduce travel times for commuters, and enhance the overall efficiency of the road network in Baku and the surrounding Absheron region.
