Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmail Baghaei has rejected US Secretary of State Marco Rubio’s statements alleging that Tehran interferes in Yemen’s affairs.

Operative Information Center-OMM reports that Baghaei made the remarks in a post on the social media platform X.

Calling Rubio’s statements “false,” the diplomat said that “lies cannot replace reality.”

Baghaei stressed that the Ansar Allah movement is an independent actor, makes its own decisions and does not follow anyone’s orders.

According to him, the main causes of instability in the region are US military interventions and its policy of hegemony.

Baghaei said that if Washington genuinely wants peace to be established, it should stop interfering in the affairs of the region.

The diplomat added that the conflict in Yemen cannot be resolved through coercive pressure.

Earlier, Rubio said that the Houthis were agents of Iran. He also said that Iran’s influence was clearly behind some incidents and that the United States was closely monitoring the situation.

Yemen’s conflict has remained part of wider regional tensions, with the Houthi movement controlling large parts of the country and the United States and Iran maintaining sharply differing positions over regional security and foreign intervention.
