Azerbaijan has commenced the implementation of "green zone" principles across all redevelopment projects in its liberated territories, prioritizing both environmental sustainability and economic efficiency. As part of these initiatives, bidirectional electricity meters are being utilized for the first time in Azerbaijan within these regions.
According to Operative Information Center-OMM, these remarks were made by Emin Huseynov, the Special Representative of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the Aghdam, Fuzuli, and Khojavand districts, during a press briefing at the 13th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) held in Baku.
“One of the most important factors for us is that projects, while maintaining ecological balance, also have a positive impact on people's budgets. In this regard, we are ensuring the installation of solar panels on residential buildings and utilizing bidirectional meters. It should be noted that bidirectional meters are being implemented in Azerbaijan for the first time specifically in the liberated territories,” the special representative stated.
The integration of renewable energy sources in the Garabagh and East Zangazur economic regions aligns with Azerbaijan's national strategy to transform these areas into "Net Zero Emission" zones. The World Urban Forum (WUF), established by the United Nations, serves as the premier global conference on sustainable urbanization, providing a platform for Azerbaijan to showcase its large-scale reconstruction efforts and "Smart City" and "Smart Village" concepts following the restoration of its territorial integrity.
