President of the Republic of Guinea, Mamady Doumbouya, has signed a decree on the dismissal of the country's government.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports, citing local news outlets, that the head of state issued the order to dissolve the current cabinet effective immediately.
According to the presidential instructions, the management of current ministerial affairs has been entrusted to the secretaries-general of the respective departments until a new government is formed. The composition of the new cabinet and the appointment of a new prime minister are expected to be announced in the coming days.
The decision to dissolve the government comes just weeks after Doumbouya officially assumed his duties as president. It should be noted that he secured victory in the elections held on December 28, 2025. Under Guinean legislation, the president is elected for a seven-year term.
Guinea has been navigating a complex political transition period following the military intervention in 2021. The recent elections and the subsequent restructuring of the cabinet are seen as significant steps toward stabilizing the nation's governance. President Doumbouya, who previously led the transition, now faces the task of implementing economic reforms and ensuring social stability in the West African nation, which is a major global producer of bauxite.
