Heavy snowfall and icing have severely restricted traffic on the Jalilabad–Yardimli highway, creating significant challenges for local transportation. Operative Information Center-OMM reports that certain sections of the road are currently impassable for standard vehicles, with movement limited primarily to specialized machinery and four-wheel-drive vehicles such as "Niva" and "UAZ" models.
According to local residents, while road clearing operations have partially restored access to sections near the district center by midday, movement remains strictly limited in mountainous areas. The intense weather conditions have also caused substantial damage to the region's power grid. Damaged transmission lines have resulted in widespread blackouts, leaving more than 50 villages across the district without electricity.
The District Emergency Situations Commission stated that restoration efforts are currently underway to mitigate the impact of the winter storm. Specialized teams and equipment have been deployed to clear snow from the main arteries and repair damaged electrical infrastructure. Yardimli and Jalilabad, located in the southern region of Azerbaijan, are frequently subject to harsh winter conditions due to their mountainous terrain, often requiring mobilized state resources to maintain essential services during the peak winter months.
