In response to public feedback, authorities in Baku have announced a comprehensive project to replace 177 escalators and two travelators located across 46 pedestrian crossings throughout the capital. This initiative is designed to modernize urban infrastructure and improve the daily commute for residents.

According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the Baku City Executive Power is overseeing the project. The new equipment, manufactured by the renowned Finnish company KONE, is specifically engineered to withstand diverse weather conditions, ensuring long-term durability and reliability.

The production of these mechanisms, customized to individual measurements and technical specifications, is currently underway. Installation is scheduled to begin in phases starting this October and November. Once the upgrades are completed by the Baku City Executive Power, the infrastructure will be transferred to the balance sheet of the State Agency of Automobile Roads of Azerbaijan (AAYDA).

This large-scale modernization effort is being carried out in accordance with the instructions of President Ilham Aliyev, reflecting the government's ongoing commitment to improving public services and urban safety standards in Azerbaijan.

Baku's public transport and pedestrian infrastructure have undergone significant development in recent years, with the city prioritizing the integration of advanced technologies to accommodate its growing population and increasing tourist traffic.
