Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov held a meeting with the Minister of Finance, Budget, and Banking Sector of the Union of the Comoros, Moussa Abderemane.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan reported that the discussions focused on the development prospects of existing friendly and cooperative relations between Azerbaijan and the Union of the Comoros. The parties emphasized the importance of strengthening cooperation, particularly within the framework of international organizations and platforms.
The meeting highlighted Azerbaijan's active role within international organizations, including the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), the Non-Aligned Movement, and other multilateral platforms, noting the significance of mutual support and solidarity. Specifically, the sides discussed expanding cooperation opportunities in the lead-up to the OIC Summit scheduled for 2027.
Furthermore, the parties underscored the necessity of strengthening ties within the framework of South-South cooperation. The efforts of Azerbaijan to promote collaboration with developing nations within this platform were highly commended.
The Union of the Comoros is an island nation in the Indian Ocean and a member of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation. Azerbaijan has been actively expanding its diplomatic footprint in Africa, seeking to deepen bilateral ties through economic cooperation, climate change initiatives, and multilateral diplomacy, leveraging its experience as a former chair of the Non-Aligned Movement.
