Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov held a telephone conversation with his Canadian counterpart, Anita Anand.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported that the ministers exchanged views on the current state and development prospects of Azerbaijan-Canada relations, as well as regional issues of mutual interest.
During the conversation, Minister Anand extended her congratulations on the anniversary of Azerbaijan's independence, emphasizing Canada's interest in further strengthening bilateral ties. Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov expressed his gratitude for the congratulations and highlighted the significant potential for expanding political dialogue and cooperation across various sectors between the two nations.
The discussion underscored the importance of exploring opportunities for collaboration in key areas, including the green transition, renewable energy, information and communication technologies (ICT), and energy security.
Furthermore, the ministers addressed the current regional situation, the realities of the post-conflict period, and the normalization and peace process between Azerbaijan and Armenia. Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov provided insights into the history of the past conflict, the occupation Azerbaijan faced, and its consequences, while detailing the ongoing efforts to ensure sustainable peace and stability in the region.
Canada and Azerbaijan maintain diplomatic relations established in 1992 following Azerbaijan's restoration of independence. Both nations continue to seek avenues for deepening economic and political engagement, particularly in the context of global energy security and regional stability in the South Caucasus.
