Azerbaijan and the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) Group have signed a series of cooperation agreements to strengthen economic ties and support infrastructure development. The signing ceremony took place in Baku during the opening of the IsDB Group's 2026 Annual Meetings.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the documents include a Framework (Loan) Agreement for the "Reconstruction of the Garabagh irrigation canal" project, a Grant Agreement for the same project, and a Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Islamic Development Bank on the preparation of the Member Country Partnership Strategy for Azerbaijan.
The agreements were signed in the presence of President Ilham Aliyev and the Chairman of the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) Group, Muhammad Sulaiman Al-Jasser.
The Islamic Development Bank has been a long-standing partner of Azerbaijan, providing significant financial support for various infrastructure, energy, and social projects across the country. These new agreements are expected to further enhance the investment climate in Azerbaijan, particularly in the liberated territories, by facilitating large-scale reconstruction efforts and fostering sustainable economic growth in line with the national development strategy.
