The transit of wheat from Russia to Armenia via the territory of Azerbaijan officially begins today. This logistical development marks a significant step in regional cooperation, following agreements reached between Baku and Yerevan.

According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the shipment consists of seven railcars carrying a total of 490 tons of wheat. The train is scheduled to depart at 15:00 from the Bilajari station of Azerbaijan Railways CJSC. The cargo will transit through the Boyuk Kasik station into Georgia, before proceeding to its final destination in Armenia.

This transit operation underscores the evolving logistical landscape in the South Caucasus. Azerbaijan has consistently emphasized its commitment to regional connectivity and the normalization of relations with Armenia, viewing such initiatives as essential for long-term stability and economic integration in the region. The utilization of existing railway infrastructure for cross-border trade serves as a practical mechanism for building confidence between the two nations.
