A freight train carrying Russian grain and fertilizer to Armenia departed from the Bilajari railway station of Azerbaijan Railways CJSC today. The shipment, transiting through the territory of Azerbaijan, consists of seven wagons destined for Yerevan via the Georgian border.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the cargo includes four wagons carrying 279 tons of grain and three wagons containing 203 tons of fertilizer. The train is scheduled to pass through the Boyuk Kasik railway station into Georgia before reaching its final destination. To date, more than 25,000 tons of grain, 1,600 tons of fertilizer, and 68 tons of buckwheat have been transported from Russia to Armenia via Azerbaijan.
This transit operation is part of broader regional logistics and energy cooperation. In addition to transit services, Azerbaijan continues to export petroleum products to Armenia. Statistics show that Azerbaijan has supplied over 8,500 tons of diesel, 979 tons of AI-92 gasoline, and 2,955 tons of AI-95 gasoline to the neighboring country. The previous significant transit of Russian wheat through Azerbaijan occurred on April 24, involving 350 tons of cargo. These logistical movements underscore the strategic importance of Azerbaijan's transport infrastructure and its role in facilitating regional connectivity and trade routes in the South Caucasus.
