Azerbaijan’s Prime Minister Ali Asadov met with Prime Minister of the Republic of Tajikistan Kohir Rasulzoda on Sept. 25 during Rasulzoda’s official visit to Azerbaijan at Asadov’s invitation.
The Cabinet of Ministers told “Operative Information Center-OMM” that the meeting noted the successful development of relations between Azerbaijan and Tajikistan based on friendship and mutual respect. The 2024 Declaration on Strategic Partnership was described as an important milestone in the development of bilateral ties.
The meeting noted that the political will and joint efforts of the countries’ presidents, Ilham Aliyev and Emomali Rahmon, had played a decisive role in bringing Azerbaijan-Tajikistan relations to their current high level.
The sides highly valued the mutual support provided by the two countries within regional and international organizations.
The positive dynamics observed in bilateral trade were welcomed. At the same time, the sides emphasized that significant potential remained for further expanding trade and economic cooperation.
The importance of the Intergovernmental Joint Commission, as well as the Azerbaijan-Tajikistan Business Council and business forum format, was highlighted in terms of expanding direct contacts between business communities and implementing new joint initiatives.
The sides discussed ways to make more effective use of existing opportunities for cooperation in transport and transit.
They noted the growing role of the Middle Corridor as an important transport route between Asia and Europe, as well as the additional opportunities created by the Zangazur corridor for the region’s new transport architecture.
The meeting noted strong prospects for developing mutually beneficial cooperation in the energy sector, particularly in renewable energy.
The sides also exchanged views on opportunities for cooperation in the provision of public services.
Satisfaction was expressed with the development of relations in the cultural, humanitarian and educational spheres. The sides noted that the agreement on the reciprocal allocation of annual education quotas created additional opportunities for students.
The heads of government discussed further deepening the strategic partnership between Azerbaijan and Tajikistan in all areas and expanding mutually beneficial cooperation.
