Baku has proven to be an exceptionally suitable venue for high-level international discussions, according to a senior United Nations official.

Operative Information Center-OMM reports that Amina Mohammed, Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations, made these remarks during the official closing ceremony of the 13th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13).

"I would like to express my deepest gratitude to the Azerbaijani delegation and UN-Habitat for their unwavering dedication and professionalism, which played a crucial role in the success of this session," Amina Mohammed stated.

The recognition of Baku as a premier hub for global diplomacy comes as Azerbaijan prepares to host the COP29 climate summit. Over the past decade, the capital of Azerbaijan has established itself as a recurring host for major international events, including the Baku Process for intercultural dialogue and various humanitarian forums. This strategic focus on hosting multilateral platforms aligns with the country's foreign policy objective to foster cooperation between diverse international stakeholders on urban development, climate action, and regional security.
