Four people were killed on Saturday after a helicopter crashed and caught fire in Quebec province, according to authorities.
Quebec provincial police, known as the Sûreté du Québec (SQ), said they received a report shortly after 2:30 p.m. local time that the helicopter had crashed near Rang des Ecossais, off Highway 10, in the Sainte-Brigide-d’Iberville area.
Emergency responders brought the fire under control. All four occupants were pronounced dead at the scene, an SQ spokesperson told CityNews.
Investigation into the crash
The victims’ identities had not been released immediately.
The SQ’s Major Crimes Unit will investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash. The Transportation Safety Board of Canada is expected to send investigators to the scene.
