Starting April 2, new electronic scales installed on public highways in Azerbaijan will officially be put into operation. According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the Azerbaijan Surface Transport Agency (AYNA) under the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport has issued a statement regarding the new monitoring system.

Regulations and penalties for drivers
AYNA has specifically requested that drivers strictly adhere to the permitted dimensions, weight, and axle load standards for vehicles. The official warning states that in cases of violation of the established rules, drivers and transport companies will face administrative liability in accordance with the legislation of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
The implementation of these high-precision electronic scales is part of Azerbaijan's broader strategy to modernize its transport infrastructure and ensure the longevity of the national road network. By preventing the movement of overloaded heavy-duty vehicles, the government aims to reduce road wear and tear, enhance traffic safety, and minimize maintenance costs. This initiative aligns with international transport standards and supports Azerbaijan's role as a growing logistics hub in the region.
