Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi will travel to New York on May 26 to chair a high-level meeting of the UN Security Council.
The Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs released this information on May 22. According to the ministry's statement, Wang Yi will also participate in a meeting of the Group of Friends of Global Governance, scheduled for May 28 in New York.
During the visit, the Chinese minister is expected to hold bilateral meetings with the UN Secretary-General and foreign ministers from various countries. Following his engagements in the United States, Wang Yi will pay an official visit to Canada from May 28 to 30 at the invitation of Canadian Foreign Minister Anita Anand.
The visit comes at a significant time for international diplomacy, as the UN Security Council continues to address pressing global security challenges and regional conflicts. Such high-level meetings in New York serve as a primary platform for major powers to coordinate on multilateral governance and international law.
