Unstable weather conditions, characterized by intermittent rain and lightning, are currently being observed across most regions of Azerbaijan. In several areas, the precipitation has intensified into heavy downpours.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the National Hydrometeorological Service released updated data as of 9:00 a.m. on July 20 regarding the ongoing weather patterns.
The report indicates significant rainfall across various districts: 38 mm in Shaki (63% of the monthly norm), 34 mm in Mingachevir (171% of the monthly norm), 24 mm in Zagatala (31% of the monthly norm), and 18 mm in Goranboy (77% of the monthly norm). Other regions, including Guba, Gusar, Gabala, Aghstafa, Gadabay, Khachmaz, Ganja, Qakh, Oghuz, Dashkasan, Tovuz, Shabran, Goygol, Yevlakh, Naftalan, Shamkir, Balakan, Shamakhi, Khizi, Barda, Kurdamir, Shahbuz, Lachin, Qubadli, Shusha, and Khankendi, also recorded precipitation ranging from 1 to 13 mm.
Additionally, severe weather was reported in the Garabagh region. On July 19, between 9:03 p.m. and 9:07 p.m., hail with a diameter of 8-12 mm fell in the Istisu settlement of the Kalbajar district.
Strong north-westerly winds are also affecting the country. Maximum wind speeds have reached 21 m/s in Baku and the Absheron Peninsula, as well as in Mingachevir, while speeds of 20 m/s were recorded in Neftchala, Zagatala, and Shaki.
The National Hydrometeorological Service continues to monitor the situation, as the country experiences these seasonal fluctuations in weather patterns, which are typical for the mountainous and lowland regions of Azerbaijan during the summer months.
