A fatal accident occurred on June 1 at approximately 11:13 a.m. when a young man was struck by a passenger train traveling on the Baku-Sumgait route, specifically in the Narimanov-Boyukshor section.

This information was confirmed to the Operative Information Center-OMM by Azerbaijan Railways CJSC.

According to the official statement, the train conductor attempted an emergency stop upon noticing the individual on the tracks. However, due to the short distance, a collision was unavoidable. The victim has been identified as Anar Rovshan oglu Guliyev, born in 2004, who succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

"We once again urge citizens to cross railway lines only at designated areas and pedestrian crossings, and to refrain from actions that put their lives at risk. Unfortunately, the carelessness and haste of pedestrians, as well as a disregard for safety regulations, sometimes lead to tragic outcomes. It must be remembered that adhering to safety rules is the duty of every citizen, and violating them carries administrative liability," the company stated.

The Baku-Sumgait railway line is a critical transport artery in Azerbaijan, facilitating the daily commute for thousands of passengers between the capital and the country's second-largest city. Azerbaijan Railways CJSC frequently conducts public awareness campaigns regarding track safety, emphasizing that trains require significant braking distances and that unauthorized crossing of tracks remains a serious safety hazard.
