The Ministry of Emergency Situations of Azerbaijan has issued a public advisory urging citizens to exercise caution due to forecasted adverse weather conditions, including strong winds and heavy precipitation, expected across several regions of the country.

According to information provided to the Operative Information Center-OMM by the ministry, meteorological forecasts indicate that intermittent strong winds and intensive rainfall are expected to persist until tomorrow. The forecast also warns of potential short-term flooding in some mountain rivers and frequent lightning strikes.

In light of these conditions, the Ministry of Emergency Situations has reiterated essential safety protocols. During periods of strong wind, the public is advised to avoid standing near light structures, temporary buildings, billboards, electrical poles, wires, and tall trees. Furthermore, the ministry emphasized that strong winds complicate firefighting efforts, making strict adherence to fire safety regulations critical during this period. Citizens are also warned that swimming in the sea during strong winds is dangerous, and operators of small vessels are prohibited from heading out to sea under such conditions.

To mitigate risks associated with heavy rainfall, the ministry advises avoiding areas prone to flash floods and mudslides, recommending that individuals seek higher ground immediately if threatened. Regarding lightning safety, the ministry suggests disconnecting electrical appliances, refraining from using telephones, and avoiding proximity to power lines, lightning rods, or tall trees. If caught in a vehicle during a lightning storm, drivers are advised to stop, roll up the windows, and wait for the storm to pass.

The Ministry of Emergency Situations regularly issues such warnings to ensure public safety during Azerbaijan's volatile seasonal weather transitions. These advisories are part of the government's broader disaster risk reduction strategy, aimed at minimizing the impact of natural hazards on the population and infrastructure.
