Drizzle is expected in Baku and parts of the Absheron Peninsula on January 27, while snow is forecasted for several regions across Azerbaijan. According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the National Hydrometeorological Service has released the official weather outlook for the upcoming 24 hours.
In Baku and the Absheron Peninsula, weather conditions will be changeably cloudy and occasionally gloomy, though mostly dry throughout the day. However, light drizzle is likely in certain areas during the night and morning hours. An occasionally strengthening north-west wind is expected to be replaced by a north-east wind during the day. The temperature in the capital will range from 2–4°C at night to 4–6°C during the day, with atmospheric pressure remaining above normal at 769 mm Hg and relative humidity at 75–85 percent.
In the regions of Azerbaijan, intermittent precipitation is expected, primarily in the form of snow. Forecasters predict that precipitation will intensify in the Lankaran–Astara zone, with fog likely in various areas. A west wind will strengthen occasionally in some mountainous and foothill regions. Temperatures in the regions are expected to fluctuate between 2°C frost and 3°C heat at night, and 5–9°C heat during the day. In mountainous areas, temperatures will drop to 6–11°C frost at night, reaching between 3°C frost and 2°C heat during the day. Due to the freezing temperatures, roads in some mountainous districts are expected to become icy during the night and morning hours.
The National Hydrometeorological Service of Azerbaijan regularly monitors weather patterns to provide timely updates for the public and relevant state agencies. Such seasonal shifts in weather are typical for the Caucasus region in late January, often requiring increased caution for drivers in mountainous terrain due to reduced visibility and icy road conditions.
