Azerbaijan allocated 1.955 billion manats for pension payments during the first quarter of the current year, representing an 11 percent (187 million manats) increase compared to the same period in 2023.
The Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of the Population informed the Operative Information Center-OMM that pensions were indexed by 9.3 percent at the start of the year. Following this adjustment, the average monthly pension in Azerbaijan rose to 594 manats, while the average monthly old-age pension reached 632 manats. Furthermore, 11,000 pensions were granted proactively via the electronic system between January and March, contributing to a total of 190,000 e-appointments since the digital platform was launched in early 2019.
These developments are part of Azerbaijan's ongoing social welfare strategy designed to strengthen the social protection of its citizens and modernize public administration. The implementation of proactive electronic services aims to reduce bureaucratic hurdles by utilizing integrated state databases, ensuring that social benefits are distributed efficiently and transparently. This digital shift remains a key priority for the Cabinet of Ministers as it continues to expand the scope of e-government services across the country.
