Traffic congestion reported on major Baku roads

Heavy traffic congestion has been reported on the main roads of Baku, causing significant delays in vehicle movement across the capital.

Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the Intelligent Transport Management Center (NIIM) has released official data regarding the current traffic situation on the capital's primary thoroughfares.

Currently, traffic conditions in Baku show high density in the following areas:

  • Baku-Sumgait highway, in the direction of the "20 January" metro station;
  • Ali Mustafayev Street, towards Ziya Bunyadov Avenue;
  • Binagadi highway, towards "Azadliq Avenue" metro station;
  • Abdulvahab Salamzade Street, towards Ziya Bunyadov Avenue;
  • Ataturk Avenue, towards Ziya Bunyadov Avenue;
  • Ziya Bunyadov Avenue, from the front of the Baku Olympic Stadium to the intersection with Ahmad Rajabli Street;
  • Babek Avenue, in the direction of the city center;
  • Mikayil Mushfiq Street, from the "Badamdar" circle towards school-lyceum No. 20;
  • Azadliq Avenue, from the intersection with Salatin Asgarova Street to the intersection with Dilara Aliyeva Street;
  • Denizkenari Street, from the front of Flag Square towards the "Azneft" circle;
  • Rashid Behbudov Street, towards the Central Bank;
  • 28 May Street, from the intersection with Pushkin Street to the intersection with Rashid Behbudov Street;
  • Dilara Aliyeva Street, from the intersection with Pushkin Street to the intersection with Rashid Behbudov Street;
  • Tbilisi Avenue, from the "20 January" metro station towards the city center.

The Intelligent Transport Management Center (NIIM) monitors the traffic flow in Azerbaijan's capital using a sophisticated network of cameras and sensors to manage urban mobility. Such congestion is typical during peak hours in Baku, as the city continues to expand its infrastructure to accommodate an increasing number of vehicles. Authorities advise drivers to use alternative routes where possible to avoid delays and ensure smoother transit through the metropolitan area.
