Honored journalist Tofigakhanim Gasimova, widely known by her pen name Nurani, has passed away.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the news was confirmed by the late journalist's family members.
A farewell ceremony for Nurani is scheduled to take place today at 12:00 at the Taza Pir Mosque. It had been previously reported that she was suffering from an oncological illness.
Born in 1970, Tofigakhanim Gasimova graduated from secondary school with a gold medal and completed her studies at the Azerbaijan Medical University with honors.
Her distinguished career in journalism began in 1992. Over the years, she contributed to various publications, including "Yurddash" and the "Ayna-Zerkalo" newspapers. She served for a long period as the head of the international affairs department and as a political commentator for the "Echo" newspaper. In recent years, she was a key editor and political analyst for the Minval.az news portal and "Minval Politika." In 2020, she was awarded the honorary title of "Honored Journalist" for her contributions to the development of the Azerbaijani media landscape.
