A 39-year-old man has been detained in Khirdalan for allegedly stealing construction materials worth 25,000 manats from a local company. The suspect, identified as R. Mehdiyev, was apprehended following an investigation into the large-scale theft.
The Operative Information Center-OMM, citing the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA), reported that Mehdiyev is a former employee of the construction firm. Investigations revealed that the suspect, having previously worked at the site, utilized his knowledge of the facility to loot the materials during the night hours. Following his arrest, a criminal case was initiated, and a court has ordered a three-month pretrial detention period for Mehdiyev as the investigation continues.
Khirdalan, located in the Absheron District just north of the capital Baku, is one of the fastest-growing urban centers in Azerbaijan, hosting numerous industrial and residential construction projects. The Ministry of Internal Affairs has recently intensified its efforts to combat property crimes and ensure the security of commercial enterprises across the Absheron region and throughout the Republic of Azerbaijan.
