Russia plans to initiate the development of a new "Roadmap" for inter-parliamentary cooperation with Azerbaijan for the 2027-2028 period, following the completion of the current joint work plan. This initiative aims to further strengthen the strategic partnership between the two nations' legislative bodies.

According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, this announcement was made by Andrey Yatskin, First Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, during the 24th meeting of the Azerbaijan-Russia Inter-parliamentary Commission held in Baku.

Yatskin noted that the parties are currently continuing to implement measures outlined in the existing "Roadmap" for inter-parliamentary cooperation for 2024-2026. "We are closely monitoring these measures and hope that by the time we hold the next meeting of the inter-parliamentary commission, we will be ready to draft the roadmap for the subsequent period of 2027-2028," Yatskin stated. He emphasized the need to begin this preparatory work early and instruct the relevant parliamentary committees of both countries to draft appropriate proposals.

The First Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council also highlighted the significance of healthcare and education issues included in the commission's agenda. "I believe this is a crucial topic, both within the framework of humanitarian cooperation and for the overall development of interpersonal relations," he added.

The Azerbaijan-Russia Inter-parliamentary Commission serves as a vital platform for legislative dialogue, facilitating the alignment of legal frameworks and fostering bilateral ties. Such cooperation is a cornerstone of the strategic partnership between Baku and Moscow, ensuring that legislative support keeps pace with the evolving economic, humanitarian, and political relations between the two neighboring states.
