Qatar has announced that efforts to reduce tensions between the US and Iran through diplomatic channels are ongoing.

According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, this was stated by Qatari Foreign Ministry spokesperson Majed Al-Ansari during a press conference in Doha.

Al-Ansari emphasized that Doha's primary priority is to resolve tensions between the US and Iran diplomatically. He noted that intensive negotiations are underway regarding the unhindered opening of the Strait of Hormuz for international shipping. While a final agreement has not yet been reached, the exchange of draft understandings continues.

Addressing the Gaza ceasefire negotiations, Al-Ansari stated that efforts to implement the second phase of the agreement, mediated by Turkey, Egypt, and Qatar, are continuing. He claimed that Israel is failing to fulfill its obligations, whereas Hamas is adhering to the terms of the agreement. The spokesperson called on the international community to exert pressure on Israel, describing recent military escalations as a deliberate attempt to hinder the peace plan proposed by US President Donald Trump.
