The Ahmadbayli–Fuzuli–Shusha highway has officially commenced operations as a toll road.
According to the State Agency of Azerbaijan Automobile Roads (AAYDA), the implementation of the toll system aligns with national legislative requirements. The agency noted that under current regulations, the operation of a toll road is permissible provided that a free, high-standard alternative route is available to the public, ensuring freedom of choice for drivers.
In this context, the Zafar Road (Victory Road) will continue to function as the designated free alternative route for travelers. Consequently, motorists now have the option to choose between the high-speed, toll-based Ahmadbayli–Fuzuli–Shusha highway or the toll-free Zafar Road to reach their destinations.
The Ahmadbayli–Fuzuli–Shusha highway is a critical infrastructure project in the Garabagh region, designed to significantly reduce travel time to the cultural capital of Shusha. These modern transport corridors are part of the broader post-conflict reconstruction efforts in the liberated territories, aimed at facilitating the return of former internally displaced persons and boosting regional economic development.
