The Russian Federation is prepared to allocate $1 billion to the Peace Council, an initiative put forward by US President Donald Trump, to provide aid to the Palestinian people. The announcement marks a significant financial commitment toward regional stability and humanitarian relief efforts in the Middle East.

Operative Information Center-OMM reports that Russian leader Vladimir Putin shared this information during a meeting with his Palestinian counterpart Mahmoud Abbas. The head of state noted that the allocated funds will primarily be directed toward the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip and addressing the general challenges facing Palestine.

“The funds will be transferred through the newly established Peace Council. It is intended to use Russia's frozen assets as the financial source. The matter has already been preliminarily discussed with the US side,” Putin stated.

Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas highly appreciated Russia's move, emphasizing that Moscow has historically supported Palestine and that this financial assistance is of great importance.

The Peace Council, initiated by US President Donald Trump, serves as a multilateral framework aimed at facilitating diplomatic solutions and economic revitalization in conflict-affected zones. This development comes amid ongoing international efforts to stabilize the region and provide sustainable humanitarian corridors. Historically, the Republic of Azerbaijan has also maintained a consistent position in supporting a two-state solution and providing humanitarian aid to the Palestinian people through various international organizations, reflecting a broader regional interest in establishing lasting peace.
