Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov has stated that the primary focus of meetings between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping is the substance and strategic depth of their discussions.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, citing RIA Novosti, Peskov noted that comparing the ceremonial aspects of meetings between US President Donald Trump and President Vladimir Putin is unnecessary. He emphasized that the formal side of these high-level engagements is secondary to the actual content of the dialogue.
"If you analyze the statements made by both Xi Jinping and Putin at the beginning of their limited-format meetings, it becomes clear that both sides attach great importance to this content," Peskov added. He suggested that the focus remains on bilateral cooperation and addressing global challenges rather than the optics of the diplomatic protocol.
The relationship between Moscow and Beijing has intensified significantly in recent years, characterized by a comprehensive strategic partnership. This diplomatic alignment covers various sectors, including energy, defense, and trade, as both nations seek to navigate a shifting global geopolitical landscape. The mention of US President Donald Trump highlights the ongoing international focus on how major world powers interact and the distinct diplomatic styles employed by global leaders in high-stakes bilateral negotiations.
