President Ilham Aliyev further commented on the role of international institutions, noting that Azerbaijan restored its territorial integrity and sovereignty independently after decades of ineffective international mediation. He highlighted that the peace agreement was initialed with the participation of US President Donald Trump, who signed the declaration as a witness. "We ended that war in the world's number one office," the President remarked, referring to the diplomatic support provided by the United States administration.
