President of Latvia Edgars Rinkēvičs, who is on an official visit to Azerbaijan, visited the "Baku White City" project on April 22.

Operative Information Center-OMM reports that Ruslan Sadikhov, the Executive Director of the Baku White City project, briefed the Latvian President on the completed and ongoing infrastructure works within the district. It was noted that the area, formerly known as "Black City," had been heavily contaminated with oil industry waste for over 150 years. Under the initiative of the President of Azerbaijan, the territory has been transformed into a unique global ecological project and a modern residential area.

The Baku White City project stands as one of the world's most prominent examples of modern urban planning and environmental restoration. The implementation of the project began on December 24, 2011, with the participation of President Ilham Aliyev and First Vice President Mehriban Aliyeva. Developed based on sustainable and "smart city" principles, the project aims to create a clean and eco-friendly environment for residents and visitors alike, replacing the industrial legacy of the past with green spaces and contemporary architecture.
