The passenger train traveling from Baku to Tbilisi, which departed the Azerbaijani capital yesterday at 23:10, successfully arrived at its destination today at 09:04.

According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, a welcoming ceremony was held at the Tbilisi Railway Station to mark the occasion. The event was attended by Georgia's Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Tamar Ioseliani, officials from the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Georgia, CEO of Georgian Railway JSC Lasha Abashidze, and other dignitaries.

This journey marks the first trip of the Baku-Tbilisi passenger train after a six-year hiatus. The return train is scheduled to depart Tbilisi today at 21:00 and will arrive in Baku tomorrow at 06:24.

The resumption of the passenger rail service between Azerbaijan and Georgia is expected to significantly boost regional tourism, strengthen bilateral economic ties, and facilitate easier travel for citizens of both nations. The railway connection serves as a vital link in the transport corridor connecting the Caspian Sea region with the South Caucasus, highlighting the strategic partnership between Baku and Tbilisi.
