UN and European nations congratulate Azerbaijan on Independence Day

The United Nations representation in Azerbaijan, alongside the embassies of Slovakia, the Netherlands, Belgium, and Lithuania, have extended their congratulations to the Republic of Azerbaijan on the occasion of May 28 – Independence Day.

According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, these diplomatic greetings were published on the official social media channels of the respective missions.

In its official statement, the UN representation in Azerbaijan extended its warm wishes to the Azerbaijani people on the national holiday. Similarly, the Embassy of Slovakia in Baku expressed its best wishes for peace, prosperity, and continued success for the nation.

The Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands also conveyed its congratulations, stating, "Happy Independence Day, Azerbaijan! The Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Azerbaijan extends its sincere greetings to the people of Azerbaijan on the occasion of May 28."

The Belgian Embassy highlighted the determination of the Azerbaijani people to preserve their independence, national culture, and traditions. "Today, we celebrate the independence of the Azerbaijani people, as well as their determination to protect their unique national culture and traditions. We wish the people of Azerbaijan peace, prosperity, and future success. Happy Independence Day!" the embassy noted.

Furthermore, Lithuania congratulated Azerbaijan and its people, expressing hope for the continued flourishing and strengthening of cooperation between the two nations. "Lithuania highly values the friendly relations and cooperation between our countries and hopes for the further strengthening of our partnership and ties between our peoples," the statement read.

May 28 marks the anniversary of the establishment of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic in 1918, the first secular parliamentary republic in the Muslim world. This historic date is celebrated annually as Independence Day, symbolizing the nation's sovereignty and resilience.
