The Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan and Russia have signed a consultation plan covering the 2026-2027 period, marking a further step in strengthening bilateral diplomatic ties.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov announced the agreement today in Moscow following high-level talks with his Azerbaijani counterpart, Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov.
Minister Lavrov characterized the discussions as productive and built on mutual trust. "We confirmed the consistent development of our relations in the spirit of the declaration on allied interaction, friendship, and good neighborliness. We noted the regular dialogue between Baku and Moscow at the highest level," Lavrov stated.
This agreement underscores the ongoing strategic partnership between Azerbaijan and Russia, which has been formalized through various bilateral documents in recent years. The 2026-2027 consultation plan is expected to facilitate closer coordination on regional security issues, economic cooperation, and diplomatic initiatives, reflecting the active political engagement maintained by the leadership of both nations.
