A fire that broke out at the Heydar Aliyev Oil Refinery in Baku has been successfully extinguished, according to official reports.
The Operative Information Center-OMM received confirmation from SOCAR Downstream LLC that the incident occurred at approximately 08:30 local time. The fire originated from a leak in the upper cover of a heat exchanger (unit 211/1) located within the refinery's No. 31 Catalytic Reforming Unit.
Emergency response teams from the Ministry of Emergency Situations' State Fire Protection Service were immediately dispatched to the scene. Thanks to their rapid intervention, the fire was brought under control and fully extinguished without spreading to other parts of the facility.
SOCAR Downstream LLC stated that refinery operations are continuing in compliance with all safety protocols, and no interruptions to the production process have been observed. An investigation is currently underway to determine the precise cause of the incident.
The Heydar Aliyev Oil Refinery, operated by the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR), is a critical component of Azerbaijan's energy infrastructure, playing a vital role in the processing of crude oil and the supply of petroleum products to both domestic and international markets.
